Penrhiwceiber Hall & Institute
The Penrhiwceiber Hall & Institute has been a proud feature within the Rhondda Cynon Taff valley community since it first opened in 1882. After the War, the Hall served as a cinema, until it closed in the 1980’s and sadly fell into disrepair.
The community partnership organisation, Tri yn Un Community First, planned to redevelop the Hall back to its former glory, and managed to secure funding to bring a cinema back to the Valley.
Comcen were asked to design, configure and install a state of the art Cinema for the Hall. The installation coincided with the opening of the Penrhiwceiber Film Festival which meant working to a stringent frame. As the Hall was a listed building, care was taken to not disturb the original fixtures and fittings during the installation. Comcen installed a 5M Electrical Cinema Screen with a High definition wide screen projector complimented with a 7.1 surround sound audio system, under budget, all within the allocated time frame.
Upon completion, Comcen were able to support the volunteers with several training sessions on the new equipment.
The opening night was a great success with a guest appearance from Welsh Hollywood actor Michael Sheen, who said: “The Penrhiwceiber Institute has a glorious and inspiring history. I want to do everything I can to help the Hall’s trustees and all the work that Communities First are doing for it to once again take its rightful place at the heart of the community. I urge everyone to get behind this wonderful venture and give all the support they can.”
Comcen technology Ltd were proud to be associated with such a charitable venture.
